I love the Hilton pedal.
I can readily see why it is the standard amongst the pros. Up till now, I’ve always used the old school Shobud pedal with my Shobud Professional. I had no complaints per se, but felt that maybe it would be an improvement, so I thought I’d give the Hilton a try.
I’d say it is an improvement. Not like a huge improvement, because I really had no gripes with the Shobud pedal, but it seems like perhaps it has a more accurate frequency response. Not a great difference in the sound, just maybe a little clearer and more open. Also more gain and useable pedal travel. To use a gas pedal analogy, it’s like there’s alittle more power “under the hood” for more sustain.
It took a bit of adjustment-I had to lower the gain on my amps, and had to get used to having more “oomph” available when I pushed the pedal, but after a couple nights it felt totally natural.
Another plus from what I understand is there’s no more worry about when the pot will need replaced.
I would totally recommend the Hilton pedal to fellow Steel players.
